February, 2009 - Ways to Reduce Your Medical Insurance Premiums
Health insurers continue to increase premiums on renewal.
Health Savings Accounts
By switching to a high deductible health plan, you can reduce premiums significantly and use the savings to contribute to a health savings account that belongs to you. Contribute up to $3,000 as an individual or $5,950 with family coverage. Add another $1,000 if you are between the ages of 55 -64. Unused funds rollover from year to year.
Investigate RAF Sales
Health plans are still very interested in growing enrollment. They offer incentives through discounts off their rate adjustment factors (RAFs) for you to change health plans. Instead of your medical rates increasing this year, we might be able to help you lower them.
5% Membership Discount
If you are currently insured with Blue Shield, or are considering them, your association membership can earn you a 5% premium reduction. Call us.
