Professional Liability
Professional Liability
Professional Liability Insurance protects you against claims arising from real or alleged errors or omissions, including negligence, in the course of your professional duties. You pay only for the principals, employees or additional insureds, there is no extra premium for the coverage of your business. Additionally, there is no premium charge for coverage provided for opticians, technicians and assistants.

Select the coverage limits that suits your needs, up to $2,000,000 per incident, $4,000,000 annual aggregate.

Highlights Include:

• Legal fees and court costs paid for covered claims.
• Lost wages can be collected if you are required to appear in court due to a claim filed against you.
• You are covered for the performance of services as a member of a professional board or organization.

Workers' Comp
Workers' Compensation
Workers' Compensation insurance is required by law and covers your employees in the event of a job-related injury. Coverage is standardized by state law and includes hospital and medical expenses, work-related disability income and a death benefit.

Employment Practices Liabililty Insurance

Employment related suits usually involve one or more of the following: discrimination, sexual harassment, or wrongful termination. The purpose of the CMA program is to provide members with the needed tools to manage risk properly and the protection generally missing from other insurance policies.

CMA’s program provides members with significant benefits:

Risk Management

  • Web based training for members, office managers and employees to help minimize exposure to employment practices lawsuits
  • Access to a legal information hotline staffed by employment practices attorneys
  • Review of employee handbooks and employment applications

Insurance

  • Choice of policy limits of $250,000, $500,000 or $1,000,000
  • Low minimum premium of $750 ($1,000 in LA)
  • Low per claim retention of $2,500 ($5,000 in LA)
  • Provides for defense costs and losses an insured becomes legally obligated to pay as a result of a covered claim. 
  • 60 day extended reporting endorsement included

High Deductible Health Plans and Health Savings Accounts

In order to open a Health Savings Account, you must satisfy these four eligibility guidelines: 1) you must be enrolled in a qualified high deductible health plan (not just a health plan with a high deductible), 2) you may not be covered under any health plan that is not a high deductible health plan, 3) not be enrolled in Medicare, and 4) not be claimed as a dependent on another person’s tax return.

Significant premium savings are available through a number of qualifying high deductible health plans (HDHP) on an individual or group basis. Blue Cross Programs
For Individuals and Small Groups (2 – 50)

You have a choice of health care programs for your family and your employees. Programs include: PPO, HMO and HSA.

HMO Plans:
• Low out-of-pocket costs and unlimited lifetime benefits for covered services.
• Minimal co-pays for office visits and self-referral for OB/GYN (women's health specialists).
• Specialty services include allergy, dermatology and ear, nose and throat.

PPO Plans:
• Direct access to the doctors, hospitals and specialists of your choice.
• Immediate (deductible-free) benefits on some plans for office visits and generic drugs.
• Low negotiated provider fees that substantially reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

Dental
Dental
This program lets you know exactly how much you're covered for in advance. A table of allowances will detail how much the program covers for each dental service. You are responsible for the difference between the allowed dollar amount and the dentist's filed fee, when using a Delta dentist (93% of California's dentists are Delta dentists.) If you are not using a Delta dentist, you are responsible for the portion of the fee not covered by the allowance, up to the billed amount.

Highlights Include:

• Calendar year deductible: $50 per insured/$150 per family
• No deductible on diagnostic and preventive services
• $1,000 maximum per calendar year for each insured

Term Life
Term Life
You may apply for up to $500,000 of benefits at competitive group premiums. Your spouse and employees are eligible for up to $500,000. Plan features include coverage for children.

Members under age 60 may apply. At age 65, benefits reduce by 50% to a maximum of $250,000.

This plan offers permanent insurance (up to $1,000,000) that is guaranteed renewable to age 95 and an optional cash accumulation account that earns tax-deferred interest at competitive rates (minimum guarantee: 4%). An accelerated death benefit provision (equal to 50% of your policy up to a maximum of $250,000) is included.

Highlights Include:
  • At death, the face amount plus accrued cash values are paid
  • No administrative fees or surrender charges
  • You may skip payments to the cash account

AD&D
AD&D
This program covers you 24-hours a day, 365 days a year and pays regardless of any insurance you may have. Benefit amounts are available from $50,000 to $750,000.

Highlights Include:
  • Loss of Use Benefit - 1% of Principal Sum Per Month
  • Seat Belt Benefit - up to $10,000
  • Spouse Retraining Benefit
  • Private Pilots Coverage (20% of Face Amount to $250,000)
  • Hospital Benefit

LTD
Long Term Disability coverage helps protect your income in the event you become totally disabled.

Your Choice:

Plan A – Medical Specialty Definition of Disability
You are protected in your medical specialty for the first 5 years of your total disability. The maximum benefit period is age 65 for both injury and sickness related disabilities. The plan includes Waiver of Premium and a choice of waiting periods (90, 120 or 180 days), Optional Benefits include Cost of Living Adjustment and more! Up to $10,000 per month is available after the selected waiting period for members under age 50. Members ages 50 - 54 may apply for up to $6,000 per month in benefits.

Plan B – Up to $6,000 per month is available after the selected waiting period. Choice of 5-Year Plan or Career Plan. The plans include Waiver of Premium and a choice of waiting periods (90 or 180 days). Additional benefits include Rehabilitation Benefit and Survivor Benefit.

BOE
Business Overhead Expense
Pays the normal and fixed expenses of running your office while you are disabled so you don't have to use your personal disability income.

Examples of Covered Expenses Include:

• Rent
• Utilities
• Professional Liability Premiums
• Employee Salaries
• Association Dues
• Leased Equipment

Apply for up to $15,000 per month in benefits. Benefits are payable as long as you remain disabled up to a maximum of 24 months. In a group practice, it pays your share of fixed expenses.

LTC
Up to $10,000 per month available.

Members receive a 5% premium discount through MetLife and John Hancock. Special plans (Carve-Outs) may be written to cover only physicians in a practice.

Long Term Care benefits are payable upon the loss of two of the six Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) or cognitive impairment.

There is an additional premium discount if both you and your spouse purchase coverage at the same time. Applicants in good health may receive further discounts.

Coverage is also available to employees of members, parents, parents-in-law and grandparents.

Auto & Homeowners
The new Group Savings Plus® Program provides special discounts on automobile and homeowners premiums for COA Members. There is an additional discount if both policies are purchased through Liberty Mutual. Non-members may also apply, but they will not be eligible for the discounts.
